Krzysztof Król (born February 6, 1987 in Rydułtowy , Poland ) is a former Polish football player. He was mostly used in the position of defender.

Career

Club career

Król began his career as a youth player with the Polish clubs Górnik Radlin, Wodzisław Śląski and Amica Wronki until he signed his first professional contract in 2006 with Dyskobolia Grodzisk . In 2007 he moved to the Real Madrid youth team , where he was unable to assert himself. In 2008 he moved back to Poland and signed a contract with Jagiellonia Białystok , for which he completed a total of 30 league games in the Polish Ekstraklasa by 2011 .

During his contract with Jagiellonia Białystok, Król was loaned to other clubs twice: During the 2011 MLS season , Król played for the US franchise Chicago Fire , where he made 19 appearances; in 17 of the 19 games Król started from the start. In the 2010/2011 Ekstraklasa season he ran for the Polish first division team Polonia Bytom (7 missions).

In 2011, Król moved within the Polish league to Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała , where he played 34 league games in the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons . In the winter break of the second season he left the Polish league to play for the Moldovan first division club Sheriff Tiraspol until the end of the season. There Król won the Moldovan double with his club .

In the summer of 2013, Król moved back to the first division, which is why he hired at Piast Gliwice , where he made 19 league games with one goal in the 2013/2014 season . In addition, Król was used in six games of relegation against relegation. The descent from Piast Gliwice could be avoided.

After the 2013/2014 Polish season, Król moved back to the North American Major League Soccer , in which he had already played with Chicago Fire in 2010. He signed a contract with the Canadian franchise Montreal Impact in June 2014 and played for the Canadians for the first time on July 13, 2014 in the league game against Sporting Kansas City . Król was able to establish himself as a regular player at Montreal and strengthened the team in defense. On September 14, 2014 he saw the yellow-red card against the New England Revolution . With Impact he only finished last in the Eastern Conference , but was able to win the Canadian Championship 2014 and thus qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League . In his first season for Impact, he played twelve times, eleven of them from the start.

In February 2015 Impact announced that it would terminate the contract with Król with immediate effect by mutual agreement. Montreal justified this with the relief of the salary cap as well as the release of an international spot , which enables the signing of a new player who does not come from North America. Krzysztof Król has been under contract with the Greek Super League team AEL Kalloni since the 2015/2016 season .

National team

Król was used for the Polish U-20 national team and took part with her at the U-20 World Cup in Canada in 2007 .

Król has been married to the Polish model Patrycja Mikula since 2010 and has a son with her.
