Krzysztof Stefan Michałkiewicz (born September 26, 1953 in Oborniki Śląskie ) is a Polish politician , from October 31, 2005 to May 5, 2006 Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz government and since 2005 a member of the Sejm in the V., VI ., VII. Life

He graduated from the Catholic University of Lublin with a degree in sociology . In 1979 he began his professional activity as a consultant in the cooperative for artistic handicraft in Lublin and then from 1979 to 1981 as a sociologist in a company in Lublin.

In 1980 he joined the opposition union Solidarność . In 1981 he worked on the regional board of the union in Lublin and was editor of the information bulletin. He was arrested for participating in a strike in Świdnik and sentenced to two and a half years in prison. From 1982 to 1983 he was in various penal institutions in Lublin, Łódź , Łęczyca and Hrubieszów . In 1983, during a brief suspension of his sentence, he received a passport with the authorization to leave the country once. He left Poland with his family and went to Australia .

After returning in 1992, he worked in various positions in Lublin. He became head of the regional employment office. From 1992 to 1998 he was the director of the Voivodeship Social Office and from 1999 to 2002 he was the director of the Social Department of the Voivodeship Office. From 2002 to 2003 he was deputy director of the municipal office for family support and in 2003 and 2004 he was director of the social welfare office. After 2004 he was Deputy Mayor of Lublin.

In the 2005 parliamentary elections , he was elected to the Sejm for the constituency of Lublin via the list of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (Law and Justice - PiS). In the 2007 Sejm elections , he was confirmed as a member of the PiS with 11,250 votes. He is in the VI. Member of the Sejm Commissions for Social Policy and Health.

He has worked in various regional non-profit organizations, including the Lublin Charitable Community, the Lublin Association of Social Organizations, the Lublin Observatory for Social Problems. From 1992 to 1998 he was a member of the Voivodship Council for Employment Issues. For his social commitment he was awarded the "Lumen Mundi" medal by the Metropolitan of Lublin, Archbishop Józef Życiński .
