Lünen cinema festival

The Kinofest Lünen has been a film festival for German films that has been held annually in November in Lünen (North Rhine-Westphalia) since 1990 . It is under the motto: " Hard but warm ".

Since 1997 is Film Award of the city Luenen, the Lüdia awarded. It is a miniature of the Flower Woman statue, created by the Lüner sculptor Andrzej Irzykowski, which stands on Luenen's market square. The winner is chosen by the audience. The prize is currently endowed with EUR 10,000.

Until 2004 the cinema festival was directed by the office of Schmitt & Teigler from Cologne. Michael Wiedemann has been responsible for this since 2005 . From 2005 there will be two student juries at the Kinofest.

Starting in 2018, the Siegfried Kracauer Prize, currently endowed with 3,000 euros, will be awarded for the “best film review” at the Biberach Film Festival .

The Prime Minister of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Armin Laschet , came to the opening of the 30th Cinema Festival on November 13, 2019 . Due to the corona pandemic, the cinema festival will not take place in 2020.

  • RuhrPott - Reader's Film Award . Prize money: 1,500 euros.

Cinema banners

During the cinema festival 2010, cinema banners from the collection of the Frankfurt advertiser Manfred Stute from the 1950s to 1980s were shown at various locations in Lünen .
