La Fanfarria del Capitán , formerly Capitán Tifus , is an Argentine music group from Buenos Aires . The group was founded in 2004 by Victoria Cornejo, Jeronimo Cassagne and Francisco Mercado. They are considered to be the founders of the “Fanfaria Latina” genre, which is made up of elements from rock, cumbia, tango, ska, Balkans and Latin. The band tours worldwide.

The track "La Flor y el Libro" from the album GiraVida (2016) appeared as the soundtrack in the third season of the Netflix series House of Money . La Fanfarria del Capitán plays a scene with Alba Flores (Nairobi) and Darko Peric (Helsinki) in the first episode of the third season.

history

The first album, Flores del Bosque de Bolonia (2007), was produced by Matías Cella (among others producer of Kevin Johansen and Jorge Drexler ) and was released by EMI . Their second album, E Viva! (2012), also produced by Matías Cella and published by the Austrian company Newton Records . The third release is the live album Fanfarria Latina (2014, Newton Records). It is a live recording from Graz with announcements from previous tours. The repertoire of the CD is a mix of the previous albums as well as new original compositions and new arrangements of traditional folk songs. With La Giravida (2016) the band celebrates the release of their third studio album. It was produced by Diego Blanco and Jerónimo Cassagne. The recording time was about two years and was mainly recorded in Buenos Aires (Panda Studios). Due to the participation of many musicians (including Kočani Orkestar ), there were several recording locations: Kočani , Maastricht , Munich , Frankfurt , A Coruña , Barcelona and Odessa .

Tours

Over time, many musicians from all over the world have joined the band. In 2007 the band took part in Nokia Trends Artemotion, an Argentine tour that was broadcast nationwide on TV. In the same year front woman and singer Victoria toured with Mad Professor in the UK, Spain and Argentina. In 2009, EMI presented the award for the most promising project of the year, “Diente de Oro”, to La Fanfarria del Capitán.

In 2011 the band was invited to Italy to present the music from Buenos Aires City at the Botanique Festival in Bologna. That was the beginning of the first international tour with 40 concerts in Italy , Germany , the Czech Republic , Austria and Spain .

The seven-month “Mondo Tour 2012” followed a year later with 87 concerts in Argentina , Germany , the Netherlands , Sweden , the Czech Republic , Austria , Ukraine , Russia , the People's Republic of China and Japan . During this tour the band played at major festivals such as Fusion Festival (Lärz, Germany), Mighty Sounds (Tabor, Czech Republic), Nuevo Sol (Rostock, Germany), Movement Festival (Perm, Russia), Harvest Festival (Moscow, Russia) ) and the OCT-Loft Jazz Festival (Shenzhen, China).

The third international tour followed in 2013, starting in Buenos Aires at the Pepsi Music Festival and continuing over five months in Europe and Russia. Important festivals on this tour: Trutnov (Czech Republic), Wild Mint (Russia), Mundial (Belgium). In 2013 Capitan Tifus played 60 concerts in Europe. The band has shared the stage with Bomba Estéreo (Lido, Berlin), Karamelo Santo (Die Pump, Kiel) and Bersuit Vergarabat (Carnival of Cultures, Berlin).

2014; the fourth international tour started in Buenos Aires at the Rock BA festival , the band toured Europe in: (Germany, Finland, Ukraine, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, the Netherlands) With a trip to Kočani , Macedonia to record the horn section of Kocani Orkestra for Capitan Tifus' third studio album. A highlight was the week-long tour of Germany with (Bersuit Vergarabat) in Nuremberg, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt. The band also has their first live album “Fanfaria Latina On Tour-Te quiero capitan” Newton Records , a live recording from 2013 in Graz, Austria. Important appearances: Trutnov Festival (Trutnov, Czech Republic), Wutzrock (Hamburg, Germany), World Village (Helsinki, Finland), Carnival of Cultures (Berlin, Germany), Festival Mundial (Tilburg, Netherlands).

In October 2015 a one-month tour followed with 27 shows in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The new album La Giravida was presented during the 2016 tour (June-August) . The band performed in Germany , Belgium , the Netherlands , Slovakia , the Czech Republic , Italy and for the first time in the United Kingdom and Kosovo . Important concerts of the year were the Dokufest in Prizren , Kosovo, the Bimble Bandana Festival in Brighton , UK, the Ariano Folk Festival, Italy and the performance with the Argentinian band Onda Vaga at SO36 in Berlin .
