from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The regional association of the Israelite cultural communities in Bavaria Kdö.R is an association of Jewish communities in Bavaria . The relationship between the Free State of Bavaria and the State Association of Jewish Communities was regulated in a state treaty. The contract between Bavaria and the regional association was signed on August 14, 1997 and renewed on October 24, 2008. According to this, the regional association is the point of contact of the Bavarian state government for Jewish matters.

The association is a member of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and includes the Jewish communities of Amberg , Bamberg , Bayreuth , Hof , Nuremberg , Weiden , Swabia - Augsburg , Erlangen , Fürth , Regensburg , Straubing and Würzburg / Lower Franconia . The state association includes Jewish communities from six of Bavaria's seven administrative districts. The communities in Upper Bavaria, on the other hand, belong to the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern , which forms its own regional association in the Central Council of Jews.

history

The forerunner of the regional association of Israelite cultural communities in Bavaria was the Association of Bavarian Israelite Communities , which existed from 1920 to 1938 .

The regional association of the Israelite cultural communities in Bavaria was founded on January 12, 1947, with corporate rights on August 11, 1947. On August 14, 1997, a state treaty was signed between the Free State of Bavaria and the regional association of Jewish religious communities in Bavaria. The text of the contract says: "The State Treaty creates a permanent legal basis, comparable to that between the Free State of Bavaria and the two major Christian churches." The State Treaty was confirmed on December 17, 1997 by a resolution of the Bavarian State Parliament .

On the basis of the state treaty, the regional association receives a flat-rate grant for the preservation and maintenance of the joint German-Jewish cultural heritage and for maintaining Jewish community life. In view of the increase in the number of members of the religious communities and the resulting additional expenses, the State Treaty was changed by contract of April 9, 2003. A contract dated October 24, 2008 resulted in a further adjustment, taking into account the increased requirements due to the changed age and social structure of the Jewish communities as well as the desired intensification of intercultural exchange. State benefits amounted to DM 2,115,000 in 1997 and DM 3,700,000 in 1998. In the meantime, the grant has risen to € 5,750,000 in 2011 and (planned) € 6,250,000 in 2012.
