history

After the establishment of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949, Schleswig-Holstein opened a state representation (representation at the federal government) at the initially provisional parliament and government seat of Bonn. Until the first meeting of the Bundestag and Bundesrat in September 1949, it had its seat in the building at Koblenzer Strasse 111 (today Adenauerallee ), which was acquired by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for 122,000 D-Marks for this purpose . House Am Berghang 12 (today Auf der Steige) in the Kessenich district on the slope of the Venusberg served as the residence of the State Representation , which had also become the property of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for a price of 28,000 D-Marks.

In July 1953, Schleswig-Holstein acquired the building at Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse 24, a brick building built in 1932, in the center of the new parliament and government district , which was previously used by the Allied press office for office purposes , for a purchase price of 150,000 Deutschmarks and set up the building there 1954 the new seat of his state representation. In 1970, the neighboring house to the south, Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse 26, a former parliament building from 1934, was added for a price of 800,000 Deutschmarks. In 1982, both buildings were structurally connected to each other under the direction of a building authority in Kiel by an intermediate wing in a steel and glass frame construction and a rear extension made of brick was created, which has a divisible hall with a capacity of 250 people, foyers , two guest apartments, three guest rooms and as a Room took up the so-called " Pesel ". An underground car park was also built. The renovation of the state representation, now including a usable area of around 3,000  , was completed and inaugurated in 1984.

In the course of the relocation of the seat of parliament and government (1999/2000), the state representation of Schleswig-Holstein with 39 employees moved to Berlin in the summer of 2000 with the Federal Council . As a result, the property was vacant from the end of May 2001. She was able to sell the land at the beginning of 2003 for 2.2 million euros to the Bonn entrepreneur Marc Asbeck , who owns numerous properties in the center of the federal quarter. After a renovation completed in 2005, the former buildings of the state representative office housed a private, internationally oriented daycare center , which was mainly used by employees of the surrounding institutions. The buildings were demolished in autumn 2018.

In front of the two buildings was an original ship propeller set up in September 1984 , which is intended as a gift from the medium-sized shipyards of Schleswig-Holstein and a Lübeck manufacturer of ship propulsion systems to the state representation of the importance of shipbuilding and fishing for the state. The propeller is five-bladed, made of manganese bronze and was originally made for a deep-sea ship .
