The Landfriedstein is a mountain peak in the Dachstein massif north of Ramsau am Dachstein and is 2536  m above sea level. A. high. It lies on the border between Styria and Upper Austria .

location

The summit is 6½ kilometers east of the Dachstein summit , on the southern edge of the Auf dem Stein plateau . For Koppenkarstein  ( 2863  m above sea level. A. ) in the west extending Koppenkar , for Scheichenspitze  ( 2667  m above sea level. A. that) in the south Landfriedtal . Both hydrographically belong to the Hallstättersee catchment area (Dachstein north flank) - but this is not very meaningful because of the complex groundwater hydrography of the karst of the Dachstein massif. The surface watershed Traun - Enns , which is the demolition to the Dachstein south flank, runs over Koppenkarstein ( Edelgrieß to Enns) - Scheichenspitze - Eselstein  ( 2556  m above sea level , Seetal towards Enns) - Hundsofen  ( 2158  m above sea level). ).

The mountain is located on the Upper Austrian side in the Dachstein European Protected Area ( FFH / BSGAT3101000 / EU02 ) and the Dachstein nature reserve in the municipalities of Gosau, Hallstatt and Obertraun  ( N098 ), on the Styrian side in the Salzkammergut-Ost landscape protection area  ( LS 14 a ), and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cultural Landscape Hallstatt – Dachstein / Salzkammergut ( WHS 806 ).

Surname

The name refers to the old border Duchy of Styria - imperial Salzkammergut , on which the peak rises prominently and visible from afar. The border was traditionally measured in a straight line Koppenkarstein - Landfriedstein - Lackner Miesberg .

ways

The mountain is impassable. It is climbed from the south from the Koppenkarhöhe  ( 2409  m above sea level ), on the path between Edelgrieß and Gruberscharte  ( 2409  m above sea level ), so the valley ascent is from the valley station of the Hunerkogelbahn (Türlwandhütte, Austriahütte) or via the Guttenberghaus .

To the northeast, the high trail Hunerkogel - Gjaidstein - Feisterscharte - Guttenberghaus or further east passes .
