The Latvian district of Limbaži ( Latvian : Limbažu rajons ) was an administrative unit in Latvia until 2009.

history

On December 31, 1949, as part of a territorial reform in the Latvian SSR, the Limbaži district ( Limbažu apriņķis ) was divided into the Aloja and Limbaži districts. In 1956 the district of Aloja was re-incorporated. From 1962 to 1967 the entire area was then part of the Valmiera district before the Limbaži district (with Aloja) was re-established. Due to a law from 1998, the district was dissolved in 2009. The individual municipalities joined thereafter to the following districts (Novads) together: aloja municipality , district Limbaži , District Salacgrīva , krimulda municipality (formerly Rigas Rajons).
