The regional election in Vorarlberg in 1964 took place on October 18, 1964. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) lost 1.3% and with 53.5% achieved its worst result in a state election in the Second Republic. As a result, the ÖVP also lost a mandate, and then had 20 of the 36 MPs and thus retained its absolute majority. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ), on the other hand, achieved its best result in Vorarlberg during the Second Republic. With an increase of 0.2%, it achieved 29.5% of the votes and, as before, 10 mandates. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was able to increase its result by 0.9% and achieved six mandates with 15.8%. This meant winning one mandate. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) failed again with a small increase of 0.2% and a share of the vote of 1.2% in the state parliament.

The state parliament of the XX. The legislative period was constituted on October 29, 1964 and on that day elected the state government Keßler I as the new Vorarlberg state government.
