Positions

Ecumenism

In January 2017, Müller-Marienburg encouraged the ecumenical movement to focus on what unites rather than dividing differences . The different denominations should treat each other with respect, since ecumenism means sharing the joy of the other churches in the faith, even if one cannot perhaps fully understand it. According to Müller-Marienburg, there are three points to consider: First, all churches deserve respect because everyone is serious about their faith. Churches have only been mindful of each other since the last century, but even now there is still potential for language hurt. Second, the church should protect itself from self-righteousness. Churches would think they had a glorious history and correct teaching. Therefore, they should ask others for their opinion. And thirdly, the churches should also indulge one another in joy.

Elsewhere, Müller-Marienburg urged not simply to make theological compromises, but he would like to make his contribution to peaceful coexistence.
