Lars Rensmann

Lars Rensmann (born April 17, 1970 in Bochum ) is a German political scientist and university professor. From 2012 to 2015 he was Associate Professor of Political Science at John Cabot University in Rome. Since 2016 he has been Professor of European Politics and Society at the University of Groningen .

Life

Rensmann studied after high school in 1989 at the Bert-Brecht-Gymnasium in Dortmund political science at Luther College ( BA 1992) in Iowa and at the Free University of Berlin (diploma in 1996 and a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk promotion with summa cum laude in 2002 at Hajo Funke ). In 2003/04 he was a Post Doc and Research Fellow at the Yale Center for International and Area Studies.

In 2005/06 he conducted research at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies in Potsdam. In 2006 he became DAAD Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan and in 2012 Associate Professor at John Cabot University in Rome. Since 2016 he has been Professor of European Politics and Society at the University of Groningen . He is also a permanent fellow at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies and a visiting fellow at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He had guest lectureships a. a. in the USA , Austria and Israel .

He has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal for the Study of Antisemitism since 2011 and of the Journal of International Political Theory since 2013 . His research interests are political theory , European politics and international politics . He also deals intensively with anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism .
