Addison B. Colvin

Addison Beecher Colvin (born December 15, 1858 in Glens Falls , New York ; † June 21, 1939 there ) was an American businessman, banker and politician ( Republican Party ). He was Treasurer of State of New York from 1894 to 1898 .

Career

Addison Beecher Colvin, son of Ann Cowels and Hiram K. Colvin, was born in Warren County in 1858 . His childhood was overshadowed by the civil war. Further details about his youth are not known. On May 16, 1883, he married Maria Louise Hees in Fonda (New York). The couple had three daughters. Colvin was elected Treasurer of State of New York in 1893 and re-elected in 1895. He named his brother-in-law Deputy Treasurer of State. He was also President of Glens Falls Gaslight Company, Vice President of Herkimer, Mohawk, Ilion and Frankfort Railway, and owner of Glens Falls Daily Times and Glens Falls Weekly Messenger. He was buried in Pineview Cemetery in Glens Falls.
