Life

From 1655 Schnüffis was an actor and singer at the Innsbruck Court Theater , his patron was Archduke Ferdinand Karl . From 1661 he headed the Innsbruck court stage. In 1665 he turned away from court life and entered the Capuchin Order under the name Laurentius. Emperor Leopold I crowned him a poet for his Mirantisches Flötlein published in 1682 .

A special feature of his work are the attempts to combine the mythology of antiquity with Christian tradition. The representation of nature also plays a major role. Since he understood his poems as edifying literature for wide circles, he often offered his readers explanations of difficult passages.
