Le Tourneur ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a former French community with 638 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017), the Tournerais , in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . Audio file / audio sample

On January 1, 2016, Le Tourneur was incorporated into the new municipality of Souleuvre en Bocage as a district as part of a regional reform together with 19 neighboring municipalities, which, like Le Tourneur, all belonged to the disbanded municipal association Bény-Bocage .

geography

Le Tourneur is located around 18 kilometers north-northeast of Vire Normandie and 28 kilometers southeast of Saint-Lô . The Souleuvre flows through the local area .

history

In the Middle Ages , Le Tourneur was the capital of a sergenterie made up of 22 parishes. During the Second World War , the place was badly damaged by fighting.
