Leka Anwar Zog Reza Baudouin Msiziwe Zogu (born March 26, 1982 in Sandton , Johannesburg , South Africa ) is the only child of Leka Zogu and the head of the family of the House of Zogu and thus pretender to the throne of Albania . After the election of Bujar Nishani as President in 2012, Leka was appointed to its political consultant.

Since the death of his father in 2011 he has been the head of the Zogu family , the third sovereign head of the Besa Order and the Skanderbeg Order and is referred to by Albanian monarchists as King Leka II . A law passed in 2003 regulates the status of the royal family.

Life

At the time of his birth, the South African government declared his maternity ward to Albanian territory for 24 hours to ensure that he was born on Albanian soil.

Leka Anwar Zogu Reza was named in honor of the Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat , his grandfather King Zogu I , Shah Mohammad-Rezā Schāh Pahlavi of Iran and Baudouin I , King of the Belgians . Msiziwe is an honorary title on isiZulu .

Leka studied from 2004 to 2005 at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in London. He  received a diploma in diplomacy and international relations from the Kolegji Iliria University in Pristina in 2010. He completed a security and defense course at the Albanian Defense Academy in 2010 .

He was employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2006 to 2009 and in the Albanian Ministry of the Interior from 2009 to 2012.

activities

Leka works with youth organizations such as MJAFT! together and supports a range of humanitarian aid in Albania, but reserves the right to support only self-help projects that stimulate economic growth in Albania and Kosovo .

Leka is known as a supporter of Kosovo's independence from Serbia and has close ties with the Kosovo government.

Leka is honorary president of numerous sports and social organizations. He is also an honorary member of the board of directors of the private university Kolegji Iliria in Pristina.

Private

Leka speaks isiZulu , Albanian , Italian and English . In 2010 he got engaged to the bourgeois actress and singer Elia Zaharia . They were married in Tirana on October 8, 2016.
