The Lenkjöchlhütte ( Italian Rifugio Giogo Lungo ) is a refuge in South Tyrol and is located in the Venediger group .
location
The hut, a high alpine refuge in the rear Ahrntal west below the Rötspitze , stands directly above the Lenkjöchl, between Röttal and Windtal. The long construction of the wall in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park is an ideal base for climbing the Rötspitze and Dreiherrnspitze , but also for the transition to the Clarahütte and for the Windtal-Röttal round trip.
history
In the spring of 1885, the Leipzig section of the DuOeAV decided to build the refuge to remedy the sparse visit to this area in the rear of the Ahrntal. A suitable place for the construction of the hut was immediately found. It is free and, which is unusual in the Röttal, is free of avalanches and rockfalls, has water nearby, is a few minutes from the glacier and has a magnificent view. The building site was immediately acquired and the work was commissioned. As planned, the building was completed in late summer and inaugurated on September 2, 1887 with a preliminary celebration, gunfire, banquet, dance and speeches.
The hut was managed for the first time in 1891 and, as the number of visitors increased steadily in the following years, it was completely rebuilt and enlarged in 1898 and 1906/07. After the First World War , it was expropriated by the Italian state and taken over by the CAI section in Bruneck .
The alpine refuge was primarily intended as a base for climbing the Dreiherrnspitze. The path to the Rötspitze found on July 2, 1887 (today's ascent to the Rötspitze from Lenkjöchl was not previously known) gave the hut additional value right from the start.
Together with 24 other shelters expropriated by the state, the Lenkjöchlhütte became the property of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol in 1999; At the end of 2010, the license for their management by the CAI expired. Since 2015, the state of South Tyrol has been supported in the management of the hut (assignment to tenants, supervision of management, renovation measures) by a joint commission, in which the AVS and CAI are represented in addition to the public sector .
Ascent
