Lennart Bunke
Sten Lennart Bunke (born April 3, 1912 in Höganäs as Sten Lennart Andersson , † August 17, 1988 in Spain ) was a Swedish football player . The striker made his debut in 1933 for the Swedish national team , for which he scored eight goals in eleven international matches . His brother Torsten Bunke , who played with him at Helsingborgs IF , was also an international.
Career
Bunke learned to play football at Höganäs BK , which he left with his brother Torsten in 1932 for Helsingborgs IF . There he played at the beginning of the 1930s alongside players like Nils Rosén , Nils Axelsson and Knut Kroon in the Allsvenskan . In the 1932/33 season he won the club's third championship title with the club, and at the same time recommended himself for the national team. In June 1933 he made his debut in the 6-2 success of the national team in qualifying for the 1934 World Cup finals against Estonia in the national jersey, alongside Knut Kroon, the two-time successful Bertil Ericsson , Sven Andersson and his brother Torsten, he shone as a goalscorer and thus created the foundation for successful qualification. In the further course of the year he played four more international matches and scored three goals, but in 1934 he was no longer part of the national team and consequently did not take part in the World Cup finals.
Bunke, who worked in the Swedish embassy in Moscow, was flown in especially for the final game of the season when he was defending the championship in the 1933/34 season. As a result, he was one of the eleven players awarded the gold medal. After the club's relegation in the summer of 1935, he stayed in the Allsvenskan and moved to IFK Eskilstuna .
In January 1937, Helsingborgs IF, who had meanwhile relegated to the second division, reactivated its former stars in a kind of " Landsturm ", including Bunke who helped the club to rise again to the Allsvenskan in the summer of that year. He also played his way back to the national team, in the 4-0 success against Finland in qualifying for the World Cup tournament in 1938 , he returned to the national jersey for his sixth international match after four years of abstinence. With two goals, he was instrumental in the success alongside the other goalscorers Erik Persson and Kurt Svanström . Again he qualified with the selection for the final round, but in the 1: 2 defeat against Denmark in October 1937 he played his last of a total of eleven internationals - in his last five internationals he ran on as team captain . At least until 1939 he played at club level for HIF, after which the Second World War also affected Bunke. As a lieutenant he came to two more deployments in the late autumn of 1939, from April 1940 he was no longer active in the Allsvenskan.
In February 1976 Bunke left Sweden and settled in Spain, where he died in 1988 at the age of 76.
