Leonhard "Leo" Georg Fischer (born July 29, 1981 in Munich ) is a German satirist and author. From 2008 to 2013 he was editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Titanic .

Life

Fischer, who comes from a family of doctors, passed his Abitur in 2001 at the Albrecht Altdorfer Gymnasium in Regensburg . He studied general and comparative literature , philosophy and journalism at the Free University of Berlin and Lausanne .

Since 2007 he has been editor of the satirical magazine Titanic , of which he was editor-in-chief from October 2008 to October 2013.

Since May 2012 he has been a columnist for the weekly newspaper Jungle World . From 2014 to 2015 he wrote "Letters from the Home Front" for the news portal Watson . He wrote for the music magazine Intro , the “Truth” page of the Taz , the daily newspaper Neues Deutschland (the column “That can go”) and the monthly magazine Konkret .

In August 2017, Fischer, like other celebrities before, was in charge of the ZEITMagazin Twitter account until he was released from this task because of false reports published with satirical intent.

In 2008 Fischer was elected to the federal executive committee of the party for labor, rule of law, animal welfare, elite support and grassroots initiative (Die PARTEI) without a specific area of ​​responsibility. In 2011 he ran for the local elections in Frankfurt am Main on the PARTY list. As in the 2013 Bundestag election , Fischer was a direct candidate in the Frankfurt II constituency in 2017 and was also on the PARTY state list. In June 2019, together with Martina Werner , he resigned from the office of the federal executive committee in protest against the party's reluctance to act in relation to internal sexism .

Today, Fischer is responsible for press and public relations at the Anne Frank educational institution in Frankfurt am Main .
