The Leoganger Ache , also Leogangbach , is a left tributary of the Saalach and drains the Leogang valley of the same name with the main town of Leogang . After about 15 kilometers, it joins the Saalach near Saalfelden .

The Leoganger Ache is formed near the Tyrolean border in the Leogang district of Hütten at 960 m from the Schwarzleobach , which comes from the south-west below the Spielberghorn in the Tyrolean Slate Alps (north of Saalbach ) on the Spielbergtörl , at around 1600 m, and the Griessner Bach , which flows from the Grießenpass at 970 m from the Grießensee and Grießener Moor . With Schwarzleobach the river length is 22 kilometers.

The Leogang valley stretches from west to east, and falls open and gently into the Saalfelden basin , halfway through it passes the village of Leogang.

To the northwest of Saalfelden , in the Uttenhofen cadastral community , it flows into the Saalach (three-river corner with the Urslau ).

Its northern, left tributaries are numerous mountain streams that the limestone massif of the Leogang Mountains drain ( Grießbach, Weissenbach to Grießner Bach , Birnbach from Birnhorn in Leogang, Weissenbach in Ecking) from the slate Alps in particular comes Schwarzenbach (with Dunkelkendlbach from the Asitz and Klammbach from Halderbergkogel).

In the Leogang valley, the B 164 Hochkönig road (which leads from Bischofshofen via Dienten and Saalfelden) runs over the Grießen and Fieberbrunn passes to St. Johann in Tirol - it is the only high pass-free connection between Tyrol and the east within Austria, but it is especially across the small German corner connected with Salzburg.
