Leonti Nikolaevich Dobretsov ( Russian Леонтий Николаевич Добрецов ; born November 12 . Jul / 25. November  1904 greg. In Veliky Ustyug ; † 19th June 1968 in Leningrad ) was a Russian physicist and university teacher .

Life

Dobrezow studied 1923-1929 at the University of Leningrad in the physical department of the physical- mathematical faculty with Pyotr Ivanovich Lukirski . At the same time he worked as a laboratory assistant in the State Optics Institute . In his first work he investigated the fine structure of the sodium D-line together with Alexander Nikolajewitsch Terenin and discovered the hyperfine structure . After graduating, he worked as an assistant at the Leningrad Electrical Engineering Institute and then at the Leningrad University.

From 1931 Dobrezov worked in Leningrad in the Electrical Engineering Budyonny Military Academy and in the Physics Institute in the Department of Electrophysics .

In 1936 Dobrezov became head of the Department of Physics at the First Central Asian State University in Tashkent . He then moved to the Kazakh State University in Alma-Ata, founded in 1934 . In 1938 he received his doctorate for his work on thermal ionization from the University of Leningrad without defending a dissertation as a candidate in physical-mathematical sciences .

After the German-Soviet War , Dobrezov worked from 1945 in the Leningrad Physics-Technical Institute (LFTI) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR) and headed the Chair of Electronics Physics at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute . 1946 he received his doctorate the LFTI after defending his thesis on the thermal ionization and electron emission of a tungsten - filament in the electric field to Doctor of Physics and Mathematics . Thermal ionization and electron emission continued to be the main focus of his research. Dobrezow's book on electron and ion emission was published in 1950 and as a new edition in 1952, as well as in China , Hungary , the GDR and Czechoslovakia . In 1960 atomic physics appeared and in 1966 emission electronics . He worked with the Swetlana company, which was the largest manufacturer of radio tubes and other devices for electron beams in a vacuum .

Dobrezov was married to the geologist Julija Nikolajewna Kell, daughter of the geodesist Nikolai Georgievich Kell .

Dobrezov's son was the geologist Nikolai Leontjewitsch Dobrezow .

Dobrezov was buried in the Bogoslovskoye Cemetery.
