The Military Academy of the Telecommunications Forces " SM Budjonny " ( Russian Военная академия связи им. С. М. Будённого ) is a military university in Saint Petersburg , Russian Federation , which was founded in 1919 .

history

Building complex

The Military Academy of the Intelligence / Telecommunication Forces occupies several building complexes in St. Petersburg and the surrounding area.

1. In Paradnaja Uliza , since the middle of the 18th century quarters of the Preobrazhensk Guard Regiment and since the 1950s dormitory for foreign officers and canteen. Opposite the teaching facilities for different subjects.

2. On the Suvorovsky Prospect , a street parallel to Paradnaja Ulica, there used to be the General Staff Academy of Tsar Nicholas II. (Nikolaus General Staff Academy in St. Petersburg). This is where the foreign officers' auditors usually completed their first two general semesters. The building complex, which is now a listed building, was built mainly by the builder and architect AI Gogen between 1900 and 1901.

3. Over the years, the third and largest building complex with an extensive number of teaching facilities has been built on Tichorezki Prospect .

4. Approx. 20 km north of the city near the village of Levashovo, a tactical-technical field polygon.

The first two are in the center and the third complex in the north of the city.

  • January 21, 1941: On the orders of the People's Commissar for Defense of the USSR, this military college was renamed the Military Academy of Telecommunications ( Russian: Военная электротехническая академиа связи ).
  • July 5, 1946, the military academy was given the honorary name SM Budjonny.
  • Until the dissolution of the USSR in 1991, the above graduate badge was awarded after successful graduation.
  • August 29, 1998: According to the Government of the Russian Federation decree (No. 1009), the Military Academy was granted university status.
