Leopold August von Stutterheim (born September 17, 1808 in Neustadt an der Aisch , † May 1, 1868 in Bensberg near Cologne ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were August Leopold von Stutterheim (* November 17, 1769 - March 14, 1827) and his wife Florentine Karoline Wilhelmine, née Freiin von Falkenhausen (* 1774 - January 30, 1834). His father was a colonel and commander of the Brandenburg Uhlan Regiment , a knight of the order Pour le Mérite and was seriously wounded in the Battle of Ligny during the Wars of Liberation . His mother was the daughter of Friedrich Carl von Falkenhausen (* October 20, 1734, † October 13, 1796) and a granddaughter of Charles William Frederick of Brandenburg-Ansbach .

Military career

Stutterheim became a cadet in Potsdam on April 15, 1819 and came to Berlin as a cadet on June 8, 1823. On April 15, 1825, he joined the Guard Jäger battalion as a hunter . He became chief hunter on February 27, 1827 and on December 13, 1827 Portepeefähnrich . Then he came on March 14, 1829 as a second lieutenant in the 17th Infantry Regiment . From April 10, 1842 to April 10, 1846 he was adjutant and accounting officer of the 1st Battalion of the 17th Landwehr Regiment in Wesel . On January 17, 1743 he was promoted to prime lieutenant. For a short time from February 2, 1847 to May 2, 1847 he was company commander in the 7th combined reserve battalion. But on April 13, 1847, he became a captain and company commander in the 17th Infantry Regiment. On July 25, 1854, Stutterheim came to III as a major and commander. Battalion of the 27th Landwehr Regiment. A little later, on March 3, 1858, he was transferred to the 38th Infantry Regiment as battalion commander. On May 31, 1859 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 8, 1860 he was now leader of the 25th Combined Infantry Regiment. In addition, he received the Red Eagle Order IV class on May 25, 1760 and on July 1, 1860 he was appointed commander of the 65th Infantry Regiment . On September 20, 1861 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a ribbon, he was promoted to colonel on October 18, 1861. On May 6, 1865, he received his resignation , conferring the character of major general with pension. He died at the age of 59 on May 1, 1868 in Bensberg and was buried in the local cemetery.

family

Stutterheim received permission to marry on February 8, 1842, and on May 3, 1842 he married Alwine Christiane Helene Hermine Eichelberg (born March 31, 1816 - † May 3, 1887), daughter of the city physician Dr. Johann Philipp Alber Eichelberg. Several children were born from the marriage.
