Lewis Township is a township in Northumberland County and one of three townships with that name in Pennsylvania , United States . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , there were 1,915 people in Lewis Township, compared to 1,862 in 2000.

Lewis Township is in the northeast corner of Northumberland County. It encloses the Borough of Turbotville , which is in the center of the township. About the northern third of the township lies in the Muncy Hills , which also mark the natural southern boundary of Lycoming County to Northumberland County and the neighboring Montour County to the east . According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of ​​68.3 km 2 , which consists entirely of land.

The administrative neighbors of the township are Muncy Creek Township in Lycoming County in the north, Anthony Township and Limestone Township in Montour County in the east , Turbot Township in the south and Delaware Township in the west , both in Northumberland County.

The township lies entirely in the catchment area of the West Branch Susquehanna River . It drains mainly through the Warrior Run , which flows north to south on the western county border until it bends southwest at the Warrior Run and finally leaves the township, as well as through the Beaver Run, which leaves the township to the east and over the County Line Branch into Chillisquaque Creek . Small areas in the very south of the township are drained by the Muddy Run , while the surface water in individual valleys of the Muncy Hills is fed to the West Branch Susquehanna River via the Glade Run .

The north of the Lewis Township is largely forested and sparsely populated, there are only a few farms here . Five Points is north of Turbotville. Agriculture predominates in the south of the township. The Pennsylvania Route 44 leads in a northwest direction to Turbotille, where it connects with the Pennsylvania Route 54 and with this leads to Anthony County together eastwards. Interstate 180 runs north-south just outside the western border of the township .

The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.11.

The population was divided into 25.7% minors, 7.9% 18–24 year olds, 26.0% 25–44 year olds, 28.3% 45–64 year olds and 12.0% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 women there were 103.9 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 101.0 men.

The median household income in Lewis Township was 41,406 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 44,922 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 32,101 compared to $ 21,767 for women. The per capita income was $ 16,876. 7.6% of the population and 3.9% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 14.4% of minors and 5.6% of those aged 65 and over.
