Alexandra Shanks (* 8. June 1973 in Toronto , Ontario as Alexandra Lecciones Doig ) is a Canadian actress . She is known by her stage name Lexa Doig .

Life

Lexa Doig's father is from Scotland while her mother is of Filipino descent. She grew up with her older brother Ted in Don Mills, Toronto. The name Doig comes from the Scottish, Lexa is the nickname of Alexandra . Since August 2, 2003 she has been with the actor Michael Shanks (known as Dr. Daniel Jackson of Stargate married), but continues to operate under the stage name Lexa Doig . She gave birth to her first child on September 13, 2004. In March 2006 a son was born. For Michael Shanks it is the third child, because his daughter Tatiana, born in 1998, comes from his marriage to Vaitiare Hirshon-Asars (formerly Vaitiare Bandera).

As a child, she gained her first experiences as an actress in theater performances . So she started with plays like Romeo and Juliet and in the black comedy Arsenic and Lace Cap . Her first film role was in Psycho Girls at the age of twelve .

Television and cinema

Lexa Doig had her best-known role in the science fiction series Andromeda . Her other roles she plays, especially in science fiction - television series .

Before Doig came to Andromeda , she had made several other television appearances. For example, she played in Jason X , Die Profis - The Next Generation and Traders . She also appeared in William Shatner's television series Tek War - Warriors of the Future and in the film of the same name as a cowgirl . Lexa Doig received another leading role in the fantasy drama Second Sight (2007) and a guest appearance in the second and third seasons of EUReKA - The Secret City . She also had a role in Ba'al - The Legacy of the Storm God , which started in the USA on September 13, 2008 on SciFi-Channel .

In 2010 she starred in 6 episodes as Dr. Leah Pearlman in the remake V - The Visitors With. In the Canadian science fiction series Continuum from 2012, she played the role of Liber8 terrorist Sonya Valentine .
