Li Xiaomei

Li Xiaomei (born August 20, 1987 in Dongguan , Guangdong Province ) is a Chinese wrestler . She won a bronze medal at the 2007 World Cup in Baku and was Asian champion in Pattaya in 2009, each in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight.

Career

Li Xiaomei started wrestling in 2000. She belongs to the Guangdong Wrestling Club and is trained by Xu Kuiyuan. The 1.58 meter tall athlete starts in the lightest weight class in women's wrestling, the weight class up to 48 kg body weight.

Her first appearance at an international championship was when she was seventeen in 2004. At the Asian championship in Alma-Ata she finished third behind Yuuri Funatsu from Japan and Wu Li-Chuan from Taiwan . In 2006 she started at the Asian Games in Doha and came back to 3rd place behind Chiharu Icho from Japan and Kim Hyung-joo from South Korea . After all, she took the same place at the 2007 Asian Championships in Bishkek . Here placed Tsogtbazaryn Enkhjargal from Mongolia and Sunisa Klahan from Thailand before her.

In 2007 she started at the World Championships in Baku . There she won over Wasilla Rawafy, Tunisia , Wu Li-Chuan and Vanessa Boubryemm from France . Then she lost in the semifinals against Chiharu Icho and then won a World Cup bronze medal with a victory over Stephanie Murata from the United States . With this success, she qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing . In Beijing she then had pronounced Lospech, because there she met the reigning world champion Chiharu Icho, who delivered a tough fight and only lost 1: 2 rounds and 1: 2 points. Then she had to compete against the 2004 Olympic champion and multiple world champion Irina Melnik-Merleni from Ukraine , against whom she also won a round, but was ultimately defeated with 1: 2 rounds and 1: 8 points. She only came in 13th.

Li Xiaomei's last appearance at an international championship was at the 2009 Asian Championships in Pattaya . There she won the title in front of Juldiz Eschinowa from Kazakhstan .

In 2010 and 2011 she competed in the World Cups in Nanjing and Liévin as well as in the Tourcoing Grand Prix .
