Live and act

Pale received classical ballet and piano lessons and learned to play the flute from an early age; She played longer as a flautist in the railway band in Wels . From an early age she was passionate about singing. After graduating from the Adalbert Stifter-Gymnasium in Linz , she moved to Vienna to study singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . In addition, she was active in the electro-pop scene with her own trio, where she played keyboard and sang. She was discovered in 2012 by Mathias Rüegg (formerly Vienna Art Orchestra ) in one of his lectures at the Vienna University of Music, and soon afterwards studied for a year in Gothenburg , Sweden .

Together with Rüegg, she developed the idea of transporting the songs from Schubert's Winterreise into a different musical context. In February 2013 she made her debut at Porgy & Bess with a first incomplete and English-language version of the winter trip Gone Too Far , which was published by Universal. The new music newspaper wrote about the album : “Lia Pale performs spacious jazz. Expressive her vocal color palette. Outstanding the accompanying musicians. And the album's flair remains. Fragrant, relaxed, charming. … 'Gone too far' is ultimately a jazz album that will be hard to beat this year. Schubert or not. Listen to everything. ” Gone Too Far received the Pasticcio Prize from Ö1.

Her second album, My Poet's Love , was released in February 2015 and contains new versions of songs by Heinrich Heine and Rainer Maria Rilke . In 2016 she was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category "Jazz / World / Blues". On A Winter's Journey that same year she presented a further developed version of the winter journey, which this time included all the songs in the cycle. With Rüegg she then adapted songs by Robert Schumann (album Schumann Song Book ), which she also presented at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . She also devoted herself to the songs of Brahms and Handel.
