Libiąż is a town with around 17,200 inhabitants in the Chrzanowski powiat in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with about 22,500 inhabitants and is located about 40 km west of Krakow and seven kilometers north of Auschwitz .
By far the most important economic factor and at the same time an important employer, also for the surrounding communities, is the Janina coal mine .
