Lieselotte Berger
Lieselotte Berger (born November 13, 1920 in Berlin-Spandau ; † September 26, 1989 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).
From 1987 until her death, she was Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Chancellor and authorized representative of the Federal Government in Berlin.
Life
After attending middle school, Lieselotte Berger worked as an office worker in Berlin from 1937 to 1945. In 1942 she passed the Abitur . After the end of World War II she worked until 1947 as an interpreter for English . From 1948 to 1954 she then completed a degree in sociology , philosophy and journalism at the Free University of Berlin . She had been working as a journalist since 1950 . In 1958 she joined the regional office of the Berlin CDU as a consultant and worked from 1959 to 1963 as a consultant to the governing mayor of the Senate Chancellery. She then headed the exhibition department in the Press and Information Office of the State of Berlin.
Lieselotte Berger joined the NSDAP at the age of 18 . Since 1958 she was a member of the CDU. Here she was mainly involved in the women's association , of which she was the Berlin state chairman from 1960 to 1969. In addition, she was a member of the federal executive committee of the CDU women's association from 1962 to 1973. Since 1965 she was a member of the CDU state executive in Berlin and from 1973 deputy CDU state chairwoman in Berlin.
On August 26, 1971, when she replaced the resigned MP Karl-Heinz Schmitz , she entered the German Bundestag as a Berlin MP. She was then a member of the German Bundestag until her death . From 1972 to 1987 she was chairman of the Petitions Committee .
After the federal elections in 1987 , she was appointed to the Federal Government led by Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl on March 12, 1987 as Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Chancellor and authorized representative of the Federal Government in Berlin . She held this office until her death.
From 1981 to 1988 Lieselotte Berger was a member of the board of trustees of the Fürst Donnersmarck Foundation .
Lieselotte Berger died on September 26th in her hometown of Berlin. She was buried at the In den Kisseln cemetery in Berlin-Spandau in an honorary grave of the State of Berlin.

- 1977: Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
- 1985: Large gold medal with the star for services to the Republic of Austria
- 1986: Elected Woman of the Year by the German Citizens' Association
- 1987: Great Cross of Merit with Star of the Federal Republic of Germany
In November 1996 a street and a square were named after her in Berlin-Rudow .
