Liga Mayor del Distrito Federal 1932/33
The 1932/33 season of the Liga Mayor del Distrito Federal was - taking into account that the competition was prematurely terminated in the 1930/31 season and is therefore just as little to be regarded as a regular league competition as the anniversary tournament Centenario 1921 held in cup mode - the 30. The Necaxistas achieved their highest win (and the highest win of the season!) Of all places against their arch-rivals Atlante , whom they defeated 9-0 in the championship game on June 4, 1933. Before this - last for both clubs - encounter, the runner-up Atlante had topped the table.
Specialty
For the only time in the forty-year history of the Primera Fuerza, the tournament was played in a higher-class A-season and a second-class B-season, each of which consisted of five teams. In the A-season, the four best-placed teams from the previous season and the record champions Real Club España, who took part again after a year of absence, were allowed to compete. In the B-season played the four worst-placed teams of the previous season as well as Club México , which was also returning to the league , which had occupied the penultimate place when it last participated in the 1929/30 season .
At the same time, the 1932/33 season was the last season of the FV Germania , which was founded within the German community and whose football team was dissolved in the top division after almost two decades.
Season course
The tournament began on December 11, 1932 with the encounters between the Season B teams from Club Marte and Club Leonés and the Season A teams from Real Club España and Club Atlante. The league game round of the two tournaments was continued on every Sunday with one game each for Seasons A and B and ended - after a break from early March to mid-April 1933 - on June 11, 1933 with the games between Marte and Sporting (Series B) as well the duel between the “ Spanish rivals ” Asturias and España (Serie A). In August 1933, the relegation games between Club Asturias as bottom of the table in Serie A and Club Leonés as top of the table in Serie B were played, which were clearly won by Club Asturias (6: 2 and 9: 3). However, they became insignificant as this class difference within the league was abolished again in the following 1933/34 season .
Venues
All league games were played - alternating weekly - in Campo Asturias and Parque Necaxa , so that each team exercised their home rights once in this stadium and once in that stadium. The seasonal article on RSSSF on which this article is based shows a lack of clarity in that it identifies both matches in Serie A between Club América and Real Club España and Serie B between Leonés and Sporting as the home rights of the first-named team. Because it is unclear in which game which team actually played the host role, the better result in each case is shown as the home game in the respective cross table.
