Liina Laasma (born January 13, 1992 in Tõstamaa ) is an Estonian javelin thrower .
Athletic career
Liina Laasma gained her first international experience in 2009 at the World Youth Championships in Brixen , where she took fifth place in the final with a width of 50.99 m. Then she won the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tampere with 53.66 m. The following year she took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton , Canada , but was eliminated there with 48.22 m in qualification. In 2011 she won the Junior European Championships in Tallinn with 55.99 m. In 2013 she took part in the World Championships in Moscow for the first time and was eliminated there with 56.93 m in qualification, as well as at the European Championships in 2016 in Amsterdam with 56.61 m. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where 58.06 m were not enough for a final . At the European Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2018 , she was eliminated without a valid attempt in qualification and in 2019 she was fifth at the European Games in Minsk with a throw on 61.88 m.
In 2013 and 2017, Laasma became the Estonian javelin champion. She is (as of 2020) the Estonian record holder, first she improved Moonika Aava's record to 62.50 m, in 2014 she reached 63.17 m and finally on May 22, 2016 in Rabat the current width of 63.65 m.
