Linda Forsberg (last name [ fɔʂbærj ], born June 19, 1985 in Upplands Väsby ) is a former Swedish football player . The midfielder made her debut in 2007 for the Swedish national team .
Career
societies
Forsberg started playing football at Bollstanäs SK . In 2003, the offensive player made her debut for the women's team from Hammarby IF in Damallsvenskan . In the top Swedish league she was able to establish herself as a regular player, so that she was transferred to league rivals Djurgården Damfotboll in 2007 . There, too, she made the leap into the regular formation, so that she was appointed to the national team for the first time in the summer by national coach Thomas Dennerby . In the 7-0 victory over Romania on June 16 of that year, she made her debut in the national jersey. In the fall she was finally part of the squad for the 2007 World Cup tournament , where she was used in the games against the United States and the Nigerian selection . At the side of Nadine Angerer , Ariane Hingst and Jennifer Meier , she reached fifth place in the table in the 2008 season . In the same year she was part of the contingent at the Olympic Games in Beijing . At the tournament she was one of the regulars and played all four games until the selection team failed in the quarter-finals to Germany .
In December 2008 Forsberg announced her move to LdB FC Malmö , where she signed a two-year contract valid from January 2009 with the option of a one-year extension. In the team around Nilla Fischer , Aylin Yaren , Lina Nilsson and Therese Sjögran , she achieved a regular place and shone as a regular goal scorer.
In November 2011, at the age of 26, she retired from her career with a knee injury.
National team
Forsberg is in the Swedish squad for the World Cup in Germany and was on the starting line-up in the first game against Colombia , in the second game against North Korea and in the group victory game against the USA . After three wins, she and her team reached the quarter-finals unbeaten, where they met Australia . Here, too, Forsberg was back in the starting line-up and with the 3-1 victory both the semi-finals against Japan and the qualification for the Olympic Games in London were reached . On July 16, 2011, she and the team won the game for third place in the 2-1 victory over France .
