"Old" Lindenweiler settlement

Lindenweiler is a settlement belonging to the Magdeburg district Stadtfeld West and is located south of the Neu Olvenstedt district .

The area of the settlement is 1.12 km². In 2001, 2,853 inhabitants lived here.

Lindenweiler is mainly characterized by single-family houses. Various smaller companies have set up shop for this purpose. In 2001 58 IHK members were registered, including restaurateurs and 24 craft businesses. The unemployment rate is well below the Magdeburg average. Construction of the settlement began in 1931. To eliminate the housing shortage at that time and to improve the social hardship that arose in the course of the global economic crisis , the social democratically run city administration initiated a self-help settlement for the unemployed, who were brought in to do their own work. Initially, 50 two-storey semi-detached houses with a garden, stable and laundry room were built according to the plans of the city's urban expansion office. In later years, more single-family house areas were added.
