Lisa Berg (born October 28, 1978 in Luxembourg ; † December 21, 2017 there ) was a Luxembourg cellist and composer .

Life and education

Lisa Berg received her first music lessons at the age of six and began to learn the flute at the Maastricht Conservatory at the age of 13 . It was also around this time that she began taking cello lessons, first in Echternach in the class of Martin Fusenig, then at the Conservatoire du Nord with Raju Vidali and finally at the Conservatory of Luxembourg with Claude Giampellegrini. She perfected her studies at the Maastricht Conservatory with Frans van der Grinten and Mirel Iancovici and graduated with a bachelor's degree .

At the age of 16 she began to play in rock and pop music bands, later also in the directions of crossover and jazz . She also appeared at the same time in the Estro Armonico Orchestra and the Ensemble Baroque du Luxembourg and played with Raju Vidali in the Ensemble de la chapelle St Marc Longsdorf . She had a temporary job at the Luxembourg Sinfonietta and at the Veräin Lëtzebuerg Chamber Museum .

She developed cancer , which was considered cured after treatment, and in July 2016 she made her comeback on stage. Lisa Berg died of leukemia on the night of December 21-22, 2017 in the Center hospitalier de Luxembourg .

Music career and profession

From 2001 Lisa Berg was a music teacher at the Réidener Museksschoul . As a soloist , orchestral musician and chamber musician , she was involved in very different, often non-classical formations. She has z. B. played with André Mergenthaler and Judith Lecuit in a cello trio. With Sascha Ley and Frederic Frenay on the Lost-in-the-Stars tour. She played in the musical Alice Underground and in the electronic music operetta DJe with Fränky Reuter and Michel van Tune.

CD recordings were made for Raquel Barreira, Fluyd, Claudine Muno, Low Density Corporation, Thierry Kinsch, Claude Pauly, Lex Gillen and Dullemajik. She was also involved as a soloist on the CD Opnam ( Horizons ) for the French group Détroit, a French music project by Bertrand Cantat . For the DVD Regarder le soleil en face , which was released by Omega 90 in March 2015 , she composed and interpreted the music together with David Ianni .

She performed at various festivals , such as B. at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland , the Youth Orchestra Festival in Budapest , the Korean Music Festival in Maastricht , the Lechternacher Festival , Wolzer Festival , Syrdall Festival , De Klenge Maarnicher Festival or the e-Lake festival and had a number of live - Performances in Luxembourg and Belgium (e.g. in May 2015 with Bertrand Cantat and his band in the Rockhal of Esch an der Alzette ).

In 2014 she was involved in the soundtrack for the documentary Oro Libre by Gaëlle Tavernier and composed the piece Hope for the Fondation Cancer, which premiered in 2014 at the “Relais pour la Vie” (the video Hope was recorded in Lisa Berg's hospital room). Her first solo album White was released in 2015, it was recorded at Real World Studios by Peter Gabriel .
