The complex consists of an angular and a three-wing bailey from the second half of the 19th century and the brick mansion from the 15th century. The three building complexes are each surrounded by moats and are located in front of the formerly symmetrical garden with two pavilions. The south wing was rebuilt as a modern residential building after the war.

The castle complex formerly consisted of the still-preserved keep and a corner of the building on the north-east side. The free sides were closed by thick shield walls. In the 18th century, the shield wall was extended with a new building facing the inner courtyard. Since the house only had trapped rooms, a corridor was added to the north side in the last century. The entire castle complex has a huge roof covered with slate.

Honsdorf
map
The Honsdorf house is the ancestral seat of an old noble family. As the Wurm was the border river between the competing duchies of Jülich and Limburg / Brabant and the dioceses of Cologne and Liège, many castles were built here. Honsdorf played an important role in 16th century politics. The above-mentioned remains, together with the already listed tower fragment on the left, are the last witnesses of this past greatness.

The tenant house was built in 1897: a two-story brick building with a gable roof in five axes. The bridge spans the moat that used to surround the entire facility.

map
The bakehouse as a whole is a monument. It is a half-timbered house with pegged girders in the gable surfaces. The eaves-side threshold over which there is ventilation of the baking house is located above the tenons of the gable girders. The roof was later pulled over the oven so that wood could be dried over the warm oven. The system is the rare two-storey design with a cellar vault made of a brick cap for storing the baking ingredients under the baking space. Both entrances, both to the cellar room and to the baking room, are on the eaves side, while the cellar door is on the same level as the surrounding area, a staircase leads up to the baking door. The walls have been partially filled in with bricks. On the back, which is now boarded up with wood, there is still the original clay infill, which should be preserved as far as possible. The roof is designed as a gable roof with hollow pans. As a special baking house form, the object is for the history of people and their working and production conditions. Its preservation is in the public interest for scientific reasons, in particular for architectural and folklore reasons. 19th century 0Feb 5, 1988 65

Old Town Hall building Geilenkirchen
Markt 9
map
In 1954 the town hall, which was destroyed by the effects of the war, was "rebuilt" according to plans by the Aachen architect Bernd Metzmacher. The new building took place in the typical forms of the early post-war period. In the northern corners of the market, an angle building was planned between existing buildings. The left wing is a three-story brick building with a steep pitched roof. Under the ten axes of upright windows on the upper floors, a column retreats behind five round arches over natural stone columns with capitals and bases. The arches are walled up with louvers with keystones.

The right wing consists of a drawn-in three-storey intermediate section in two axes. The tower is also made of brick and the width of the passage is divided by a five-axis ribbon of windows. A kind of "tribute balcony" extends in front of the council chamber.

The approximately 80 cm high Prussian quarter milestone is a bell-shaped bluestone and was erected on the road from Geilenkirchen to Heinsberg, which was newly built between 1833 and 1838.

After the introduction of the decimal system in Prussia (1872), the stone was moved to a new place that marked the position 30 km from Aachen (the original location, which corresponds to the quarter-mile count, is not exactly known). In 1992 the quarter milestone was dismantled as part of road construction work. Since then, the bluestone has been in the road maintenance facility in Heinsberg

The two-storey farm yard from the 16th to 17th centuries Century with a round arched bluestone doorway and rectangular drawbridge panel as well as an original hollow block frame window was badly damaged in the Second World War. During the reconstruction, the openings in the masonry to the inner courtyard were changed.
