Ensemble village center Aufkirchen

The Aufkirchen market is located on a slope south of the Wörnitz , its name suggests that it was originally the church of the older village Gerolfingen opposite . Aufkirchen was probably founded as a royal city by Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa around 1170. Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian pledged the city to the Counts of Oettingen in 1336 . Since the deposit was no longer redeemed, Aufkirchen sank to a secondary market town, the seat of an Oettingen-Spielberg Oberamt. Fires in 1634 and 1663 largely incinerated the town. In today's appearance, one can still recognize the generosity of a city complex: The center of the village is a large street criss-crossed with the city hall in the middle. It is lined with residential buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries, most of which face it on the gable side. These are two-story, plastered buildings, sometimes with half-timbered upper floors. Among them is the former Oettingische Amtmannshaus. In the north, the square borders on part of the so-called castle garden, which must have belonged to the official residence; a ground floor mansard roof building from the 18th / 19th centuries Century should have been an associated former farm building. The parish church to the south above the market affects the square. File number: E-5-71-154-1.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
