Ensemble town center Sulzfeld am Main
The ensemble encompasses the site within its late medieval fortification line, including the strip of land immediately in front of the site wall. - The wine village, mentioned for the first time in 915, increased to its present size in the course of the Middle Ages and defended in the late Middle Ages, is built on the right bank of the Main on the slope. The local structure shows some peculiarities that make Sulzfeld stand out among the towns and wine-growing villages on the Main: The main thoroughfare does not lead through the town center, but runs past the town wall on the Main side; only one branching connecting route of secondary importance, the road to Erlach, crosses the local area from the Main Gate to the Faltertor (Kettengasse). As a result, the place does not have a superordinate main street and also no marketplace as the center, but is made up of a maze of alleys of equal value. In truth, a clear structural network can be read out from the floor plan, which consists of three parallel alleys that climb the slope perpendicular to the contour lines and these alleys crosswise connecting them; the through road to Erlach (Kettengasse) from the Maintor to the Faltertor shows a multiple broken course that is inclined towards the rest of the alley network; The moderately large, almost square market square is eccentrically located near the main gate. The forks and crossings that are not laid out at right angles, combined with the sometimes considerable differences in level, result in corner solutions of picturesque charm. The streets are all covered with old paving. The place is walled in an irregular pentagon, the top of which occupies the highest slope and whose elongated base runs parallel to the Main. Monumental focal points of clerical and secular power are the former Würzburg cellars, which occupy a central position within the local area on a square-like extension of the Kettengasse, the town hall on the market square, whose high late Renaissance gable towers above the roof landscape, and the one on the highest point of elevation Parish with the dominant parish church from the Julius Echter era . The place, which is characterized by viticulture and agriculture , has a small-scale courtyard development, in which the residential houses, in keeping with the Franconian courtyard type, mostly face the street on the gable side, accompanied by a side, free-standing gate that provides access to the rear farm buildings. In the ascending alleys, there are closed, rhythmic rows of such courtyard fronts, while in the cross alleys the irregular arrangement of various types of structures is predominant. The houses are often still half-timbered buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, often with plastered upper floors. They are mostly simple, more elaborate designs are rare. Among the private buildings, the houses Langgasse 14 with a solid gable end, swallowtail gable and profiled window frames, designated 1568 and Papiusgasse 7, a stately hipped roof building from the 17th / 18th century, are to be emphasized. Century. The development is interspersed with houses from the 1st half of the 19th century in the limestone stone construction typical of the landscape. The numerous baroque house figures, which are often predominantly attached to the corners of houses on consoles, are important for the street scenes. The cohesion of the local structure, the largely intact, historical buildings, combined with adequate use (viticulture, agriculture) make Sulzfeld a. Main a particularly obvious local ensemble. Also to be emphasized are the landscape-bound long-distance effect of the townscape and the direct relationship between the town and the Main, which is evident in the wide, undeveloped strip of land between the town wall and the river. Boundaries: through road on the mains side (Kitzingen-Segnitz) - Raiffeisenstraße - edge of the north-western local ditch - footpath along the north-eastern side of the fortification. File number: E-6-75-170-1.
Site fortification
The town wall is almost completely preserved over a length of approx. 900 m with three gates and 18 towers. It was built in the 15th century and renovated under Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn at the end of the 16th century. File number: D-6-75-170-2.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
