List of municipalities in Namibia
This is a list of the parishes in Namibia . It is an official status in the context of public administration in Namibia .
A distinction is made between Part 1 Municipalities (equivalent of a township ), Part 2 Municipalities (equivalent of a simple municipality ) and Cities (large city), Towns (city), Villages (village) and Settlements (settlement) - the latter without any municipality code.
Community association
The public association of municipalities for the Namibian communities is the Association of Local Authorities of Namibia (ALAN) , which of these interests against the Namibian Government in Windhoek represents. The community association of Namibia also advises and supports the communities in their administrative cooperation and their local self-government .
The “Part-1” and “Part-2” municipalities each provide three or two commissioners to the association, while towns and villages without municipal law each provide one commissioner.
The community association consists of a commission of community representatives and is organized by a presidium. The current (November 2014) president of the community association is Agnes Kafula .
