List of cellar lanes in Carinthia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of cellar lanes in Carinthia is topped by the cellar lanes in the Austrian state of Carinthia . In the Jauntal, where viticulture can be traced back to the 10th century , there are still remnants of old cellar lanes in the communities of Sittersdorf and Globasnitz. In other places in Carinthia there are only a few old wine cellars or cellars.

Perhaps the oldest cellar lane in Austria is located in the Carinthian municipality of Sittersdorf: The Weinberg district is located on a southern slope, where viticulture was practiced from the 14th to the first third of the 20th century. Wine cellars were mentioned in documents as early as the 16th century. There is still an old winegrower's house and a few cellars. Information boards along the signposted wine trail draw attention to the history of viticulture in the municipality and in Carinthia. A viticulture association built a new wine cellar in which wine has been produced again for a few years.
