Detailed memorial texts

  1. ^ Dehio - Handbook of German Art Monuments / Saxony Volume 1:

Mighty single-nave church building with east tower. The choir square around 1200, the transept around 1250, remodeling and expansion to the west in 1519/20. Tower construction in the east 1700–06, as the building site in the west was not stable, in 1888 extensive changes to the interior in a neo-Gothic style by master builder Zenker from Reichenbach / OL. Plastered quarry stone building on a cross-shaped floor plan with a hipped roof. The single-nave nave is wider in the west than in the east, and the transept is placed in the middle of the structure. Sacristy in the east between the choir and transept. In the east there is a mighty tower in three finely structured storeys, with a dome with a lantern above the strongly profiled eaves. Vestibules in the west, south and north. The interior is determined by the painting from 1888. Three-bay nave with reticulated vault, dated 1519. The crossing, as well as the transept arms with groined vaults (the ribs were removed for safety reasons), to the nave, choir and transept are wide, round arched belt and divider arches. The square choir with star vaults, the south wall of the choir opened to the choir by a round arch. The chancel in the lower tower floor with groin vault. The sacristy south of the choir with a pointed arch barrel. Simple galleries on the north, west and south sides of the nave and the transept with ornamentally decorated parapets, dated 1888. Equipment: Classicist altar by the carpenter Wendt from Ebersbach, dated 1806. Altar structure with Corinthian columns on pedestals, in between a round arched niche with a large crucifix made of painted sheet metal. Finally, a straight cornice with a toothed frieze, above a triangular gable with a wreath of clouds and rays. - The polygonal wooden pulpit on a high wooden pillar. The columned basket depicting Christ and the apostles, late 19th century. Colored, octagonal sandstone baptism in neo-Gothic forms, 2nd half of the 19th century. In the choir organ in a neo-Gothic case by Hermann Eule, 1888. In the floor of the choir, bronze plate for Mayor Martin Weisse and his wife Euphrosyne Charitas (died 1736); associated oil portrait of the deceased on the left side of the choir arch. In the northern vestibule there is a wooden epitaph for Michael Böhmer and his wife Margarethe. Three oil paintings on top of each other in an architectural setting, below a bust of the two deceased, above that man and woman kneeling in front of the crucified, finally the Salvator, end of the 16th century with later additions. Here also two sandstone epitaphs of the same design for Tobias Engelmann and his wife Elisabeth (died 1717). Inscription field in the lower part surrounded by a curtain, in the upper part by two putti holding a wreath of clouds. The churchyard with remains of the late medieval defensive wall, on it numerous grave monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries, including sandstone epitaphs for Pastor Abraham Richter (died 1668) and his wife Klara (died 1661). Full-length, frontal representation of the deceased in contemporary costume. Sandstone epitaph for Richard Worster (died 1738). On a cantilevered pedestal with an inscription cartouche, a tent-like structure with a male figure in antique armor next to an inscription cartouche.
