Totality of Royal Saxon Triangulation (" European degree measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony "); Station 3 Jauernick | (Corridor 3, parcel 34/2) (map) |
Marked 1865 | Triangulation stone; First-order station, significant in terms of surveying history and technology history. The inscription reads: “Astron. geo-dät. / station / JAUERNICK / the / Central European / degree measurement. / K.Preussen / 1865 “. The pillar stands on the summit of the Black Mountain, west of the village of Jauernick-Buschbach. A small basalt dome is placed on the summit made of granodiorite from East Lusatia with steep mountain slopes. The pillar was actually already on Prussian territory and, according to Nagel, was also erected by Prussia. The national border ran approx. 1 km south of the mountain, old boundary stones are still there. The triangle formed by the stations 3-Jauernick, 4-Jeschken, 5-Lausche was established as a connecting triangle between Prussia, Austria and Saxony. The historical point was created by the Royal Prussian Geodetic Institute as early as 1863, but it was not sufficiently stable for the Saxon astronomical observations and angle measurements. A reconstruction of the pillar and its underground fixtures took place in 1865 according to Saxon principles at the expense of the Prussian Institute. Today there are only visibility possibilities to the west. The inscription refers to the Prussian point. The pillar stands on visible porphyry rock. The pillar, which has hardly been darkened, consists of a square granite stone from Herwigsdorf, carved from one piece, with vertical edges. A base has been incorporated above the floor, the section in the floor has remained unsmoothed. The original cover is in good condition, but is unscrewed on the pillar. The northeast corner is slightly chipped. |
