(map)
Marked 1922/23 (factory owner's villa); around 1870; 1922/23 (grotto); 1930s? (Riding arena) Property in the country house / reform style, villa with valuable interior design influenced by expressionism, complex of local historical, partly artistic and special architectural significance.

Castle (actually factory owner's villa) in the country house / reform style, with valuable, expressionistically influenced interior, rural house connected to the villa by a gate, then arcatur on the south side, east side of the complex, former riding hall and residential building, finally south-east park corner (park garden monument) with artificial grotto, complex of local historical, partly artistic and special architectural significance. The "castle" is marked 1922/23 above the main entrance (parts may have been created later), with a heterogeneous floor plan and elevation, dominant corner tower, Welschen gables, country house style with medieval quotations, such as "Gothic" gargoyles and "Romanesque" cloister elements with figure capitals Entrance area, interior elaborate wall designs (panels) and expressionistically shaped ceiling configurations in several rooms, built-in cupboards, some of which also contain secret doors, large vestibule with an elaborate fireplace, stairs, original box windows. To the north, exit to a small courtyard, here also a connection to the north side building, in it an expressionist tiled stove and painted wall cabinet, the latter marked 1804. South of the villa, connected to it by an archway, renovated former rural house (around 1870), followed by an arcature which represents the southern limit of the built-up area. Reithalle in the east (1930s?) Is two-story. Building with arched wooden doors on the ground floor, riding hall (moderate condition, but high degree of originality) itself could be entered from the high street level, vaulted central building. The arrangement of the side buildings turns the complex into a castle-like property. The above-mentioned rural building, which already existed on the site, was confidently incorporated by connecting structures. The north side is not a monument, as are the other buildings to the north of it (greenhouse, etc.). The entire property was a hospital during the GDR era, and most of the northern buildings also date from this period.

1870s Significant in terms of railway history and technology history. The water tower at Uhyst station was built around 1874 in connection with the construction of the Kohlfurth (today Wiegliniec) - Falkenberg line for the water supply to the steam locomotives and is now used as a residential building. It is an approx. 17 m high, octagonal structure made of yellow clinker bricks with a flat conical roof. Above the basement level, which is closed off with a sandstone cornice, the façade is structured by cross-storey reserves. In the apices of the segmental arches there are segmental arched windows grouped into groups of three; in the lower part, four unadorned rectangular windows provide light for the interior. Small ashlar consoles made of sandstone lead to the board-lined container floor, which is illuminated on four sides via large double windows. In the course of the renovation and conversion to a residential building in the years 1998–2006, the container floor had to be rebuilt; only the floor of the steel mezzanine container (capacity 200 m³) could be preserved. As part of the Uhyster train station, the water tower is a testimony to the history of railways and technology. 09269203

  2. Uhyst Castle is one of the largest castles in the region and an important building of the Saxon Baroque. The almost fifty meters long and 18 meters wide building has an eaves height of over 13 meters. The two main floors above the plastered ground floor are divided by colossal iron between the window axes, but above all the facade of the long sides is optically combined by flat central projections, the triangular overhanging of which has been preserved on the entrance side. The total of 17 axes on the entrance side culminate in the five-axis central risalit, which is emphasized by a column-supported balcony, which is entered from the piano nobile. The garden-side central projection of the 13-axis facade has only three axes, which are converted from the round arch style on the ground floor via segment arches in the first to openings with a straight lintel on the second floor. (In this context, the fight for the preservation of the castle after the demolition decision of 1948 and the protest after the demolition of the valuable sculpture gable on the garden side a little later should be emphasized. The then head of the Görlitz Municipal Art Collection, Siegfried Asche, played a particularly prominent role. ) A mighty hipped roof covers the building, which is visible from afar and was built between 1738 and 1742. Stylistically, there is a similarity to buildings by the Saxon master builder Johann Christoph Knöffel (1686–1752), primarily to the garden side of Nischwitz Castle and the Dresden buildings Kurländer Palais and Palais Flemming-Sulkowski (the latter destroyed). There is probably no such thing as the “Italian master builder” that has been rumored over and over again, “Italian” can only be related to the stucco inside. The local historical and supraregional importance of the castle, park and usable areas of the Uhyster property also result from the fact that, alongside the church and pedagogy (“Danneberger House”), it became a central location for both Zinzendorf's reform Protestantism and Sorbian culture. Friedrich Caspar von Gersdorff (1699–1751), related to Zinzendorf and provided with close ties to Herrnhut, not only had the palace and parts of the park built, but also so-called “Wendenanstalten” - orphanages for Sorbian children and young people. Since the middle of the 18th century, Uhyst, with its church, castle, park and pedagogy, has been an important educational center, place of work for important educators and one of the most progressive training centers for the Moravians active around the world. Pückler also stayed here in 1792. All this explains not only the diverse historical, but also the scientific importance of the castle, park, kitchen gardens and ponds in Uhyst, because they are suitable for researching the history of education, Sorbian culture and the work of the Moravians. The 14 hectare garden of the property, which has been occupied since the 15th century, is one of the most important in the Saxon area, even in its current state, historically and in terms of garden art. It is typical of the gardens of the Upper Lusatian nobility and the Moravian Brethren and a testament to the sophisticated garden culture of Saxony. It is the result of different phases of garden design and therefore also represents the different time layers of its handling. Its extent has changed again and again since the 16th century, depending on whether the focus was on garden design or agricultural use. This also indirectly explains the extent of the protected area in the north-west. The site of the old castle, a building that was rebuilt after the fire in 1634 and demolished in 1836, is where the grounds of the manor, which is part of the whole, and its area currently used for fish farming is located. The locations of a kitchen garden and parts of a zoo can be assumed here. The strongest pedunculate oak on the property is here. A meadow area can still be clearly seen on an aerial photo from the middle of the 20th century. The former formal garden, which stretched axially from the south facade of the castle from the 18th century and probably still in 1823 (oldest topographical map), has also almost disappeared. One realizes that, since the local garden culture has been supported by many owners over the years (and occasionally destroyed), one is dealing with an established system. In 1721, before the new castle was built, there was already talk of "Uhistic pleasure and ornamental gardening", but also of the fishing industry. The exposed fish pond in the west is already shown in its present form on the 1823 map. The piece of avenue that has been preserved on its west side is also historical. At the time of the geometric garden, today's swan pond was also created in the south (available in 1790). In a drawing from 1846, the formal garden disappeared in favor of a landscape garden, and shortly afterwards new gardens (zoo?) Were created in the west and south-west, on a terrain that is still today characterized by old vegetation and two aisles with oak trees. The area of the former formal garden has remained central to the design even after its disappearance, as it is also essential for the presentation of the palace. Around 1910 a (simplified) concept according to Pückler can be identified here, with a zoning of a flower garden on the building - Pleasureground - more extensive park areas. The basins that can still be found today and the dominant plane tree in the longitudinal central axis are characteristic evidence of the design in the second half of the 19th century. The panicle hydrangeas, which form the border of the Pleasure Grounds, are among the oldest central German specimens. In the 1950s, after everything was used for growing vegetables immediately after the war, paths were laid out on the ground floor again, but their course was not identical to the baroque model. A testament to the landscaping of the park is also the body of water, which, with its slightly curved shapes, virtually represents a transverse central axis of the protected area. The complex includes a former farm and stable building, three pools and four sandstone figures (putto making music, Apollo, Venus and Ceres).
