The Stuhlfelden deanery is a deanery of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg .

It comprises 11 parishes in Oberpinzgau , the rearmost Salzach Valley, north of Großglockner and Großvenediger.

history

The first parish in Oberpinzgau, Piesendorf, was established as early as 788 (one of the oldest in the diocese, Laurentius patronage), there is evidence of further priesthood - probably at Kaprun Castle - in 931, and in 936 the second parish was established in Stuhlfelden. In 1243 Bramberg was installed as a large parish for the rear Upper Pinzgau, in 1555 the vicariate Neukirchen, 1784 the vicariate Krimml. In 1803 the Archbishopric of Salzburg was secularized, but remained as a diocese, so that no changes occurred in the church administration. In the course of the 19th century the remaining parishes were installed (Mittersill in 1813, the last three in 1891), so that each political municipality had a parish.

Parish associations have recently been set up so that only three pastors are active in Oberpinzgau.

  2. Neukirchen - Krimml - Wald (rear Oberpinzgau)
  3. Piesendorf - Niedernsill - Kaprun - Uttendorf (vorderer Oberpinzgau - since September 1st, since September 1st, 2009 with Uttendorf)

The current dean is Tobias Giglmayr, pastor of Stuhlfelden, Mittersill and Hollersbach.
