from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of cities in North Korea provides an overview of the cities of the East Asian state of North Korea .

By far the largest agglomeration in North Korea is Pyongyang with a population of 3,702,757 (as of January 1, 2005). This means that 16 percent of the country's people live in the capital region.

The following table lists all settlements with city status, their names in German transcription and in Korean ( Hangeul and Hanja ) as well as the higher-level administrative unit ( province ) to which the city belongs. Pyongyang and Rason are under central administration of the government and not belong to any province. The population figures apply to the day of the 2008 census and relate to the actual city without the suburban belt.
