history

Plan for the Traisen Bridge from 1731

The first bridge over the Traisen in today's urban area was a footbridge built before 1657 on the site of today's Traisenbrücke Wienerstraße . Before this bridge, the only way to cross was to use the numerous fords . This bridge was also the first to be made mobile for carts in 1731. After a design by Jakob Prandtauer was not implemented, Joseph Munggenast carried out the construction. The next buildings followed in the 19th century: bridges were built between the then not yet incorporated towns of Harland and Spratzern and St. Georgen am Steinfelde and Ochsenburg . In 1848 the first bridge of the Empress Elisabeth Railway , today's Western Railway , was opened to traffic . The regulation of the Traisen between 1905 and 1913 brought with it a large number of new bridges or bridge renovations . In addition to the new Radlbrunn bridge between Radlberg and Pottenbrunn , the bridges on Wienerstrasse and Harlanderstrasse were replaced.

The existing bridges were all built in the 20th or 21st century.

New Traisenbrücken are being planned or discussed, among other things as a connection between Spratzern as an extension of Landsbergerstraße and Stattersdorf.
