history

The governments of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Manasseh Sogavare established diplomatic relations on August 2, 2005 with an exchange of notes. In the first half of 2005, Frederico Cézar de Araújo visited the Solomon Islands . With Decree 7.202 of June 2, 2010, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva founded the Brazilian Embassy in Honiara, which is run together with the Embassy in Canberra.

In May 2012 Rubem Antônio Corrêa visited Barbosa Honiara, as Dilma Rousseff's special envoy . The local authorities expressed interest in cooperation in the field of football . It was suggested that a Brazilian soccer coach be sent to coach the Solomonic national soccer team. Technical cooperation was also negotiated.

The government of the Solomon Islands is one of the signatory states to a resolution initiated by the G4 states to reform the United Nations Security Council . The government expressed its support for membership applications from Japan, Brazil and India for new permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.
