Mölltheuer Castle Ruins ObjectID : 71143 since 2014 |

The castle ruins on a hill north of Penk were first mentioned in 1307. The first building fell into disrepair in the 15th century; a later new building was in ruins again in the 17th century. Remains of a residential tower and residential buildings from the 13th century as well as small parts of the curtain wall have been preserved to this day. |

The church, first mentioned in 1233, was renovated in 1988. In the east wall there is still Romanesque masonry; the just closed choir dates from the first quarter of the 18th century. The high altar is from the end of the 18th century, the post-baroque side altar from the beginning of the 19th century. |

The elongated, essentially Romanesque church with a compact tower with a pointed gable helmet has a strongly indented semicircular apse. There used to be a Roman Hercules shrine here, before that a Neolithic place of worship. The high altar with the image of St. George comes from the middle of the 18th century. A large canvas painting, called Balthasar Klenkh 1708 , shows scenes from the legend of St. George. |

The wooden chapel built in 1716 was replaced by a stone building in 1739, which was consecrated in 1759. In 1834 an extension took place. The small single-nave building has a wooden roof turret. The altar with sacrificial doors is from the middle of the 18th century. |
