Ljuba Manz-Lurje

Ljuba Manz-Lurje (also Ljuba Manz; actually Ljubov Manz-Lurje, also Ljubov Manz; * 1940 in Charkow , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Swiss hotel heir and entrepreneur of Russian origin.

Life

Ljuba Lurje came to Vienna at the age of 12 . Her mother's family had lost hotels and estates during the Russian revolution. The father, an Austrian, fled from the Nazis to Kharkov, Ukraine. After graduating from high school , she attended the Academy of Fine Arts and worked as a cabaret dancer.

In Vienna she met her first husband, a fishmonger , through whom she came to Switzerland; according to another source, she moved to Basel in 1968 after completing her studies , where she claims to be the first woman to attend the higher business and administration school (HWV) graduated in business administration and became the manager of the delicatessen store Top Coque . In this position, she met the widowed hotelier Caspar E. Manz , owner of the St. Gotthard hotel on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse , in 1973 . In 1974 the couple married; In 1980 their twin sons Alexander and Michael were born, who meanwhile run the family business. In 1987 Caspar Manz, who died in 2010 at the age of 87, gave his wife sole responsibility for his hotel chain . Ljuba Manz acts as the chairwoman of the board of directors of Manz Privacy Hotels Switzerland , as well as other family businesses and their foundation.

With a resolution of June 1, 1994, the Austrian Federal President awarded her the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

Ljuba Manz-Lurje has been married to the Austrian mathematician Marco Conte since 2014 . She lives in Zurich .

Controversy

At the end of 2013, it became known that the Manz Privacy Hotels Group, headed by Ljuba Manz, was interested in taking over the traditional Victoria Jungfrau hotel in Interlaken . As a result, a takeover battle broke out in Switzerland, which received media attention and ultimately turned out to be in favor of Aevis Victoria SA .

Ljuba Manz came under fire at the beginning of 2014 after it became known that she and her sons would live in a prime location on the Schipfe for rent in apartments subsidized by the city ​​of Zurich .
