Longing for Tomorrow is a post-hardcore / screamo band from Aachen and Übach-Palenberg .
history
The band, founded in Aachen at the end of 2003, released two albums in 2006. The debut album Structure from Clutter was released in March and the follow-up work Beauty for the Blinded Eyes about seven months later . In autumn 2009 Chris Hell stopped and the band was only continued with three people.
In March 2009 the CD idea followed: Mensch , on which only German-language texts can be found for the first time.
Longing for Tomorrow played as the opening act for internationally successful bands such as Saosin , Aiden , Ignite and German groups such as andorra ~ atkins , Fire in the Attic , Thoughts Paint the Sky and Distance in Embrace .
On September 28, 2011, the band announced that they would split up, at least temporarily.
On October 2nd, 2011 the band played their last German concert in the valley station in Eschweiler . Singer David Frings was or is now active in the post-hardcore bands Kosslowski (vocals and guitar), Nora Yeux (vocals), Fjørt (bass and background vocals ) and Adam Angst (guitar).
style
Stylistically, the band is based on the post-hardcore sound with more poppy melodies and straighter, more harmonious parts, as played by groups like Alexisonfire or Thrice .
On the other hand, the sound is partly based on the typical harder Emo sound. More playful, monotonous and somewhat worn-out parts meet - sometimes long - extremely brutal screaming, underlaid by hard guitar walls. A song structure can only be seen sporadically here, the songs often seem chaotic to cacophonic.
reception
The band is compared with both post-hardcore bands like Alexisonfire and various bands from the screamo scene.
The label Unpopular Disclose Records describes the band's sound as follows:
"This thunderstorm of aggressiveness, yearning and contemporaneous inner silence rumbles at every concert of this band with an average age of 21. Screamo combined with […] [Post-] hardcore-elements and songs that linger."
