Lonny Chapman
Lon Leonard Chapman (born October 1, 1920 in Tulsa , Oklahoma , † October 12, 2007 in Sherman Oaks , Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Lon Leonard Chapman grew up in Joplin , Missouri . After graduating from Joplin High School in 1938 and Joplin Junior College in 1940 , he began studying at the University of Oklahoma on a running scholarship . When the United States entered World War II , Chapman signed up for the United States Marine Corps . He took part in the Pacific War and left the military after five years. He then graduated in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in acting. He and his fellow student Dennis Weaver moved to New York City , where he made his Broadway debut within a year . He made his screen debut as a film actor in 1954 with the comedy One Should Not Play with Love, directed by Gordon Douglas , alongside Doris Day and Frank Sinatra .
On October 12, 2007, Chapman died at the age of 87 from complications from heart disease and pneumonia. Until his death was since February 13, 1944 with Erma Dean Gibbons, with whom he had a son, married.
