The Los Órganos district is located in the Talara province of the Piura region in the extreme northwest of Peru . The district was established on December 11, 1964. It has an area of 165.01 km². The census in 2017 counted 10,699 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 9709, in 2007 it was 9612. The administrative seat of the district is the coastal town of Los Órganos with 9197 inhabitants (as of 2017). There is also the coastal town of El Ñuro further south with 1284 inhabitants.
Geographical location
The Los Órganos district is located on the Pacific coast and extends over a semi-desert landscape. The district has a triangular shape. The southern district boundary runs parallel to latitude, the northern district boundary runs in a SE-NW direction. The district has a 17 km long coastline and extends up to about 21 km inland. There are several beaches on the coast. Crude oil is produced in the hinterland . The national road 1N ( Panamericana ) runs not far from the coast through the district. In the north, the Los Órganos district borders on the Máncora district , and in the south on the El Alto district .
